Environment and Climate Change
Flood Precast has been ISO 14001(Environment management system) since 2015 With this as a basis, and with an increasing focus on climate change,Flood Precast is undertaking the following activities
Renewable energy
- All the electricity we use is certified 78% renewable.
- We plan to instalsolar panels at ourproduction facilities in Hilltown and already have the required planning permissions. We aim to have them installed in 2025/2026The proposed output from the solar panels is in the order of 338kW which willbe approximately1% of our current electricity usage every year. This will not only reduce our carbon impact but will reduce our costs too
GGBS
- Flood Precast can reduce our kg/Co2e/m3 by at least 20% through our concrete mix designs and innovation in cement replacements.
Material use
We are working towards Environmental Product Declarations(EPDs) for eight products in our standard range. An EPD is a standardised document that details a product’s environmental and health impact. The aim of an EPD is to inform and communicate with stakeholders/clients about a product’s impact.
- We hope to have the first EPD complete by 2025and the whole suite available by 2025.
- We harvest rainwater from the roof of our production facility and use it in the concrete manufacturing process.
- We recycle all our waste timber and steel used in the production of our concrete products.
Measuring carbon
- We have been successful completed a companywide carbon footprint project. We now have a baseline organisational carbon footprint.
