As our involvement in supplying the Precast Concrete Frames at Shanganagh comes to a completion Flood’s have been delighted to involved with Walls Construction and the Land Development Agency in delivering 597 homes in collaboration with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Shanganagh is Ireland’s largest residential scheme certified to achieve the ‘passive house’ low energy use standard which has considerably lower energy consumption and associated heating costs compared to other new builds.
Flood Precast were appointed by Walls Construction Ltd to carry out the analysis, design and installation of the precast concrete frames and all associated precast elements for Blocks A to H of the Shanganagh Castle Estate housing development in Shanganagh Co. Dublin. DBFL Consulting Engineers were the civil and structural Consulting Engineers on the project and O’Mahony Pike (OMP) were the project Architects.
This project was comprised of 9 individual buildings, named Blocks A, B1, B2, C, D, E, F, G & H. Flood Precast carried out the structural analysis and design for all these blocks including key elements such as deep beam transfer walls, transfer beams, columns, stairs and long span Hollowcore slabs. Each block was accurately modelled using finite element analysis software to determine the load paths in the structures and obtain the forces to be designed for within the precast elements. Structural transfer elements were required in every block at 1st Floor level due to the requirement for large open spaces at GF level of each block. This required complex connections to be designed, manufactured and installed, with large transfer beams and deep beam walls required throughout all blocks.
Over 2200 loads have left our yard in Oldcastle beginning on 3rd April 2023.
We would like to thank the whole team here at Flood Precast for their handwork and dedication on this project.
