Precast Stairs for Heart of the City 2 – Sheffield

Flood Precast worked as a sub-contactor in design and manufacture and delivery of Precast Concrete Stairs for David Ashley Construction to development of Heart of the City 2 by main contactor Galliford Try.

As part of this project, we delivered 72no precast stairs and associated precast landings to two Blocks of mixed residential and commercial known as Athol, Laycock and Isaac’s House.

ADVANTAGES OF USING PRECAST CONCRETE STAIRS IN RESIDENITAL BLOCKS:

  • Superior quality is produced as it is possible to have better technical control on the production of concrete in factory.
  • The moulds used for preparing the precast units are of steel with exact dimension.
  • The precast stairs may be given the desired shape and finish with accuracy.
  • Precast Stairs installation can be completed in a short time allowing follow up trades to use them.

Athol House and Laycock House is a late Victorian building which has survived completely intact. This project involves the renovation of the residences and smaller retail units. This block will cover 11000 sq. ft of spaces which will be included shop units, office space and 52 apartments.

The second block is now known as Isaacs House was originally built 1904. The main street frontage was sensitively restored.  This block will cover 37,600 sq. ft of contemporary workspace and 10,000 sq. ft of prime retail and leisure space.
