Concrete staircores for the Moxy and Courtyard Marriott Hotels in Glasgow.

Flood Precast are in the process of manufacturing 84 flights of precast concrete staircores that will be installed at the Moxy and Courtyard Marriott Hotels in Glasgow. 2no Concrete Staircores for the Moxy Hotel with comprised of 20 flights each and 2no Stair Core for the courtyard hotel by Marriott with 20 flights each including separate precast half landings and all main landings which we’re to pour onsite as in-situ concrete. Precast concrete stairs are flown into place and landed on temporary support frames. The unit is released from the crane hook immediately and eased into exact position by adjusting into the steel frame.

Flood Precast worked with our client steel frame contractor J&D Pierce in providing these stair cores to this project. Over the years we have built up a strong relationship with J&D Pierce and have worked on many developments. Established in 1975, J & D Pierce is the foremost structural steelwork contractor in Scotland, and one of the largest in the UK.

BIM is now becoming more prevalent, as most steel frame contractors will produce steel frame 3D models, which Flood Precast will incorporate our stair design. These 3D model then are combined using clash technology and viewed by the design team and all sub-contractors can see a clear picture of the building before manufacturing commences.

Courtyard by Marriott will have 216 bedrooms and the three-star Moxy hotel will have 238 bedrooms.
