Precast Hollowcore Flooring for a Luxurious Retirement Village

Flood Precast are supplying precast hollowcore flooring products for a project by Richmond Care Villages, a part of BUPA, to build a 33 million pound residential facility on a four hectare site near Witney in Oxfordshire. Designed for 240 residents with varying social care needs, the village will have the very best in modern care and leisure provision.

Pleased to announce a continuation of their close working relationship with BAM on this project, they are supplying & fixing over 15,000 m2 of precast Hollowcore flooring planks in 150mm 200mm depths.

The Hollowcore Solution

The Precast Hollowcore planks are bearing onto thin joint blockwork , so precision in the fixing is required and all of the planks will have lifting eyes for safe placement. Flood Precast expect to be supplying Hollowcore to the site for almost a year as well as the precast stairs that are required on the project.

Independent living

Work has already started on the village, which is expected to open early in 2016, and which will contain two clusters of independent living units, with a total of 79 apartments, located to the north and south of the site.

Registered care beds and assisted living

The centre of the village will house most of the shared facilities, as well as the village care centre whch will incorporate registered care beds for 60 people, plus assisted living accommodation in 46 suites on two floors.
Leisure facilities

The village will have leisure facilities to match those found in many holiday resorts. In addition to a restaurant, gym, swimming pool, shop and library, there wil be an outdoor bowling green. The extensive gardens will be available for the residents to use, and it is intended also that fresh fruit and vegetables will be grown for the village’s kitchens.

Steve Roome, the construction manager of Bam Nuttall, the main contractor, said:

“We are looking forward to beginning this project to create first class facilities for those who want to get the most from later life.

Benefits for the community and environment

Mr. Roome also said that the builders would be working with local companies wherever possible to ensure hat the work benefits the local environment and community, even at the construction stage.
